Project Summary

This TA is a pilot project to test a technically, institutionally and financially sustainable and self-sufficient model of community-managed micro-hydropower-based energy delivery in 2 pilot areas. The initial phase of the TA will focus on establishing the feasibility of such an approach.

The implementation of a Phase 2 is contingent on the satisfactory output of Phase 1. The expected outputs of Phase 2 are:

  • Establishment of two viable community-based energy organizations
  • Implementation of two pilot micro-hydropower projects nad strengthening of distribution networks
  • Supply of energy in pilot project areas
  • Greater awareness of energy saving in pilot project areas
  • Creation of partnerships with other agencies for income-generating activities.
