Systematic risk management is still not as widespread as it should be in the microfinance industry. Except for a few flagship microfinance institutions (MFIs), which constitute the industry's core, risk management is often overlooked by most MFIs, who seek growth. MFIs must address this issue and build their internal structures and capabilities for risk management to ensure sustainable growth.
