This book assembles the papers presented during the joint Asian Development Bank- Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Conference on Combating Corruption in the Asian and Pacific region held in Seoul, Korea, in December 2000. It provides a review of successful anticorruption strategies already in place and explores and analyzes new approaches. Moreover, it aims to foster the sharing of information and experience and to strengthen coordination and cooperation among key players in the fight against corruption.

Corporate Governance and Finance in East Asia presents findings of a regional study of corporate governance and in selected developing member countries of ADB.

The study attempts to identify the weaknesses in corporate governance and finance in countries most affected by the 1997 Asian financial crisis and recommends policy and reform measures to address the weaknesses.

This publication contains selected conference papers pertinent to the three themes of the third annual conference of the Asian Development Bank- Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Anti- Corruption Initiative for Asia and the Pacific. It promotes developing efficient and transparent systems of public service, strengthening antibribery actions and promoting integrity in business, and supporting active public involvement.

In two volumes, this work adopts a broad view of sustainable development as the basis of modern environmental law, with an emphasis on social justice and equity. This approach requires that environmental law address and incorporate social, cultural, and economic dimensions in addition to the physical environment.
