Quiet Time
ADB Review [ December 2005 ]
QUIET TIME Two men enjoying a peaceful moment on the road in Kabul that runs under the famous Bala Hissar, or Old Fort. The Asian Development Bank’s work in Afghanistan, featured in this issue of ADB Review, focuses on rebuilding shattered infrastructure — a critical first step to reconstruction. In addition, ADB’s private sector assistance has helped establish mobile communications as well as a more viable financial sector, part of efforts to entice much needed private investment in the country. ADB assistance also is helping develop capacity to restore skills lost during decades of conflict and misrule.
