Participative Efforts
ADB Review [ June-July 2006]

PARTICIPATIVE EFFORTS— Stakeholders discussing the results of the village-level joint fact-finding activity in Indonesia is an example of the Asian Development Bank’s efforts to improve its accountability toward its stakeholders. Over the last several years, ADB has been working hard to increase accountability and transparency in its operations. Efforts include a quicker and less cumbersome Accountability Mechanism, a more prominent role for the Integrity Division of the Office of the Auditor General, reporting of the Operations and Evaluations Department directly to the Board of Directors, an ambitious new public communications policy, and measures to ensure accountability among staff. This special issue of ADB Review focuses on the subject of accountability.
