ADB President Calls for Fundamental Change in Water Management in Asia and the Pacific

Speaking at the Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Beppu, Japan, ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda called on all countries in the Asia and Pacific region to make a fundamental change in the way they manage water to build a sustainable future. “We need to change the way we think about water – change to a broader perspective that considers all facets of economic and social development,” said Mr. Kuroda. ADB Approves Largest-Ever Project Loan for Billion-Dollar Highway Linking Ha Noi, Kunming
The $1.1 billion loan to Viet Nam will construct a modern 244 kilometer highway stretching from suburban Ha Noi to Lao Cai, on Viet Nam’s border with the People’s Republic of China. See the project information.
ADB Provides $1.15 Billion to Pakistan for Roads and Reform
The new loans will expand Pakistan’s key north-south highway network and support public sector reforms in Punjab province.
ADB Loans India $500M to Promote Public-Private Partnership Infrastructure Projects
The funds, to be provided to government-owned India Infrastructure Finance Co. Ltd. in multiple tranches over the next four years, will help catalyze private-sector investments in infrastructure of up to $3.5 billion.
ADB Provides $300.7M for Indonesia's Capital Market Development Program
The project will help make capital markets in Indonesia more resilient and competitive in order to support a high sustainable rate of economic growth.
