ADB's President Kuroda participated in a special meeting of the multilateral development bank (MDB) heads hosted by Swiss Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard in Davos. The discussions focused on the financial crisis, its effects on the MDBs and their countries of operation, as well as the evolving international aid and financial architecture. President Kuroda also spoke about the importance of regional cooperation and the impact of the crisis on Asia's Big Three: the People's Republic of China, India, and Japan. He held several bilateral meetings with government and business leaders over four days.
ADB is discussing its general capital increase with member governments to obtain the financial capacity to pursue its vision of an Asia and Pacific region free of poverty and deliver its long-term strategy to 2020.
