Indonesia Resident Mission: Houses Turned Over to Tanjong Village Quake Victims
During his visit to Aceh, Indonesia Resident Mission Country Director James Nugent and the mayor of Banda Aceh participated in the handover to tsunami victims of houses in Tanjong village that were completed through the Japan Poverty Reduction Fund's housing project in Aceh and North Sumatera. In his speech, the country director praised the use of technology to build the earthquake-resistant houses.
Lao Resident Mission: Panel Debate Held on World Environment Day
More than 450 participants from the National University of Laos, government agencies, nongovernment organizations, and media on 5 June participated in a panel debate on national actions to limit the effects of climate change. ADB, Water Resources and Environment Administration, and the National University of Laos, with support from GMS-EOC, co-chaired. Country Director Gil-Hong Kim gave opening remarks.
Nepal Resident Mission: New Study on Nepal's Development Constraints Launched
The study jointly produced by ADB, the Department for International Development of the United Kingdom, and the International Labour Organization, was launched on 11 June at a press conference in Kathmandu. Representatives of the three agencies, the Secretary of Finance, and more than 40 media representatives attended. The report's main author, Muhammad Ehsan Khan, presented the highlights and took questions from the media.
