CD at Joint Chambers of Commerce

Neeraj Jain, CD, PhCO spoke on Philippine business-related issues before the Joint Foreign Chambers of the Philippines, composed of members from the American, Canadian, European, Japanese, Korean, and News Zealand-Australian chambers of commerce and the Philippine Association of Multinational Companies. It gave members an opportunity to discuss areas of key concern to the foreign business community in the Philippines.

News Release: Philippine Banks Sign Up for ADB's Trade Finance Facilitation Program

Director General Philip Erquiaga of ADB's Private Sector Operations Department signed Trade Finance Facilitation Program agreements on behalf of ADB with five Philippine commercial banks, who can offer the financing scheme to exporters and importers so that they can expand their operations and and hopefully spur growth and employ more workers. ADB Helps Launch Knowledge for Development Center at House of Representatives

House Speaker Prospero Nograles yesterday inaugurated a new KDC at the Philippines House of Representatives together with PhCO's Joel Mangahas and development partners. This KDC is part of a network of 12 KDCs throughout the country which serves as a one-stop resource center on development, with ADB, Asia Foundation, UNIC, and World Bank as partners.

Rural Development Sector Results Framework is Prepared

For the first time in the Philippines, the sector results framework on the agriculture, agrarian reform and natural resources of the rural development (AARNR/RD) sector has been prepared with the participation of the main agencies (i.e. Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources) and the oversight agencies such as the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). Representatives from other agencies involved in rural development also participated including the Congressional Planning and Budget Department, the Senate Economic Planning Office, the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics, the National Statistical Coordination Board, National Statistics Office as well as from the civil society organizations like IBON Foundation. The workshop was organized by the Philippine Harmonization Committee and supported by the ADB technical assistance on Harmonization and Development Effectiveness. NEDA Deputy Director General Rolando Tungpalan spoke at the workshop.
