Infrastructure Investment Advisory Assistance
TRM continued to provide advisory technical assistance to the Public Debt Management Office, Ministry of Finance, and the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning, Ministry of Transport in applying specific techniques and procedures to structure private concessions for the operation and maintenance of new lines proposed under the Government’s plan to expand the Bangkok rail mass rapid transit (MRT) network.

Preparing the Bangkok Mass Rapid Transit Integrated Ticketing Project
The Government requested in October 2007 ADB’s assistance in developing strategic approach, financing plan, implementation program, and project management arrangements to procure an integrated ticketing system for the new lines under the Government’s expansion plans for the Bangkok rail mass rapid transit (MRT) network.

Planning for the Sustainable Development of Southern Thailand
Working closely with the National Economic and Social Development Board, TRM has designed an advisory technical assistance that will support the Government’s efforts to prepare a strategic development plan for promoting long-term, sustainable economic growth in Southern Thailand.

Supporting Capital Market Development
ADB supports the Ministry of Finance in implementing the Capital Market Development Master Plan.

Capacity Building for Pollution Taxation and Resource Mobilization for Environmental and Natural Resources- Phase II
Technical assistance implementation was completed on 31 December 2007. Its draft final report is under review by relevant Ministry of Finance and ADB staff.

Supporting Trade Facilitation and Capacity Building in the GMS
Trade Facilitation and Capacity Building in the GMS culminated in a regional workshop held on 11–12 September 2007 in Nanning, People’s Republic of China.

Thailand’s Safeguard Policy Review
ADB and the World Bank conducted a joint review of Thailand’s environmental and social safeguard policies being applied by the Department of Highways.

BIMSTEC Transport Infrastructure and Logistics Study
The BIMSTEC Transport Infrastructure and Logistics Study is expected to be completed in early 2008 by a team of consultants from Thailand Resident Mission.

Fighting HIV/AIDS in Asia and the Pacific
UNAIDS Regional Support Team for Asia and the Pacific and ADB have agreed to collaborate on an evidence-based advocacy subproject under the regional technical assistance on Fighting HIV/AIDs in Asia and Pacific.

Asia’s Boom Continues and Growth Spreads-Asian Development Outlook
Economic growth in Asia continues to be strong and growth spreads to Central Asia and the Philippines, according to the Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2007 Update launched by ADB in September 2007.

International Conference on Integrating Asian Economies: Ten Years after the Crisis
ADB and the Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with Thailand Development Research Institute, organized the conference in July 2007 at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Bangkok.

International Perspectives on Thailand’s Capital Market
Jean-Pierre Verbiest, Country Director, ADB Thailand Resident Mission; Luxmon Attapich, ADB Regional Economics Officer; and a consultant team on capital market development in Thailand presented in September 2007 international perspectives on Thailand’s capital market.

Press Tour to East-West Economic Corridors (EWEC)
The EWEC press tour was held on 1–4 August 2007 for the Nation, a multimedia company in Thailand.

UN Day Exhibition
ADB joined the United Nations (UN) Day Exhibition held at the Central World Plaza in Bangkok on 23–25 October 2007.

GMS Summit in Vientiane
The 3^rd Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit will be held in Vientiane, Lao PDR, on 30–31 March 2008.
