Aftermath of the 8 October Earthquake in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan

The 8 October earthquake is the biggest disaster in Pakistan's recent history.

Pakistan will need approximately US$5.2 billion to effectively implement a relief, recovery and reconstruction strategy, according to the preliminary damage and needs assessment released by the ADB and World Bank. Of this $3.5 billion is for physical reconstruction of housing, schools, health facilities, roads and other public infrastructure.
