Involuntary Resettlement : IV. Implementation Procedures

F. Application of Policy

45. This policy will be applicable to all projects approved after 31 December 1995. Until the beginning of 1994, the Bank has been using the World Bank's Operational Directive (OD 4.30) on Involuntary Resettlement as a guide in addressing resettlement aspects. Pursuant Staff Instructions issued by the President on 15 February 1994, the Bank has been implementing an involuntary resettlement policy based on the World Bank's Operational Directive (No. 4.30) on Involuntary Resettlement. A review of experience with involuntary resettlement in ongoing i Bank-financed projects is proposed under a regional technical assistance to

  • learn about strengths and weaknesses
  • identify projects and project components requiring remedial actions
  • recommend strategies and mechanisms to improve the project performance

The findings of the review would also be a useful input to future revisions of the Bank's policy on involuntary resettlement.
