Uzbekistan: Comprehensive Medium-Term Strategy for Improving Living Standards of the People of Uzbekistan (Draft)

The Government of Uzbekistan has developed its draft Living Standards Strategy (LSS) [ PDF ] under ADB TA 3781 "Comprehensive Medium-term Strategy for Improving Living Standards of the People of Uzbekistan".

Government working groups with the help of international consultants under the TA built upon, among others, the World Bank's Living Standards Assessment and the 2003 report on Linking Macroeconomic Policy to Poverty Reduction prepared by UNDP and the Center for Economic Research.

The LSS development process included a training workshop at the ADB Institute in Tokyo in December 2003 and a roundtable with multilateral and bilateral organizations on May 18, 2004 in Tashkent.

It is intended that LSS draft will form the basis of an interim Poverty Reduction Strategy paper that could be considered by the international donor community.
