Sector and Theme Classification at the Asian Development Bank

ADB has updated the sector and thematic classification of operational projects (supported by loans, equity, guarantees, and grants).

Effective 1 July 2004, Board and other official documents will reflect the updated sector and thematic classification. This paper briefly describes the updated sector and thematic classification.

ADB is currently reviewing its project classification system to better reflect recent strategic development in the region and multidimensional contributions to development results. The enhanced system is scheduled to be posted at the website toward the end of 2007.
