The Asian Development Bank's Annual Report 2005 takes a fresh approach to presenting the year's activities. As part of ADB's efforts to become a more effective and transparent public institution, the report focuses on results and provides examples of the ways ADB is improving lives in Asia and the Pacific.
Financial highlights:
- $7.4 billion provided in ADB operations
- $5.8 billion for 72 loans for 64 projects
- $285.5 million in equities and guarantees
- $4.7 billion disbursed, 33% more than in 2004
- $1.2 billion approved for 51 grants
- $198.7 million approved for 299 technical assistance activities
Major operational and institutional highlights:
- Creation of the multitranche financing facility
- Local currency financing for public and private transactions
- Rapid response to the Indian Ocean tsunami, South Asian earthquake, and avian flu
- Creation of the Office of Regional Economic Integration
- Implementation of the Public Communications Policy
- Approval of the Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric Project
