ADB’s updated strategy for the Solomon Islands (2007–2009) focuses on transportation infrastructure and services, and private sector development. In early 2006, the scope of the ongoing Post-Conflict Emergency Rehabilitation Project was significantly expanded, with support from Australia and New Zealand. The Solomon Islands Road Improvement Project was approved, funded jointly by ADB, Australia, and New Zealand, to restore and repair damaged infrastructure and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the national transportation network. No loans or technical assistance projects were approved in 2006.
