Georgia joined ADB in 2007 and by the end of 2008, ADB had approved a $40 million municipal services project (to improve the quality of water and sanitation services to towns and villages), a $25 million credit line to the Bank of Georgia (to help finance small and mediumsized enterprises), and a $70 million facility to the government help it cope with the economic crisis resulting from conflict with the Russian Federation and to fund various safety net programs. Two technical assistance projects (one advisory and one for project preparation) were also approved.
Impact of operations. ADB's support helped meet social safety net programs and other post-conflict reconstruction expenditures. The projects helped provide better urban services and finance for small and medium-sized enterprises.
