BAN: Dhaka Clean Fuel Project
Summary Resettlement Plan

The proposed project will create the initial infrastructure for the supply of compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel in Dhaka City as well as establish the initial critical number of CNG-fueled vehicles. It will also contribute to the improvement of Dhaka’s air quality. The Project has six components

  • construction of natural gas transmission pipeline between Dhanua and Savar
  • construction of an extended natural gas distribution pipelines in Dhaka
  • establishment of CNG filling stations
  • purchase of CNG-fueled vehicles
  • establishment of CNG workshops
  • capacity building on CNG technology

Construction of the Dhanua-Savar Gas Transmission Line will require acquisition of 63 hectares of privately-owned land. Based on a full census and inventory of losses 2,103 households will be affected by land acquisition for the Project. Some damage will occur to crops and trees during the construction of pipeline but Gas Transmission Company Ltd. (GTCL) made sure that there will be no displacement of people due to line construction activity. No households will be relocated. GTCL prepared this plan to address the involuntary resettlement effects of the project.
