BAN: Road Network Improvement and Maintenance Project I
Summary Resettlement Plan

The Road Network Improvement and Maintenance Project [PDF] will reconstruct 47 kilometers of regional road and 127 kilometers of Type-A feeder roads, support periodic and routine maintenance of 400km of roads as well as undertake civil works and public information campaign on road safety. The Project envisions to help the Government of Bangladesh to achieve economic development and poverty reduction through improvement of transport efficiency and strengthening of integrated road networks effectively linking national, regional and feeder roads. When designing the Project, ADB's partner Executing Agency, the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) of the Ministry of Communications selected road links that are technically and financially viable and are less likely to involve resettlement effects. Nevertheless, the 174km road improvement will still affect 2018 structures and require acquisition of 150 acres of land.

In order to address the land acquisition and resettlement impacts of the project, the RHD prepared this plan based on preliminary technical design of the Project.
