Lao People's Democratic Republic: Northern Area Rural Power Distribution Project
Resettlement Planning Documents

The Northern Area Rural Power Distribution Project is expected to strenghten and expand the existing transmission and distribution facilities and thus provide affordable electricity to rural villages. 115kV transmission lines will be constructed from Nam Leuk to Xieng Khouang, Xieng Ngeun to Xayaburi, and Thalat to Muang Feuang as well as substations at the end of each line.

Electricitè du Laos (EdL) made efforts to minimize involuntary resettlement effects thus the project will require acquisition 5.25 hectares of non-agriculture land and 0.25 hectares of residential land, relocation of 2 households and restriction of land use below the power lines. To address the land acquisition and resettlement impacts of the project, EdL prepared this resettlement plan based on preliminary technical design of the project.
