PRC: Wuhan Wastewater Management Project
Resettlement Plan

The proposed Wuhan Wastewater Management Project in the People’s Republic of China aims to achieve sustainable wastewater management and protection of water resources in Wuhan. The project will include

  • construction of three sewage treatment plants in Luobuzui, Sanjintan, and Huangjiahu
  • construction of eleven new pump stations
  • rehabilitation of two existing pump stations
  • construction of 105km sewage collecting pipelines
  • rehabilitation of two existing open canals sewage

Despite efforts made by Wuhan City Drainage Development Co. Ltd. (WCDDC), ADB’s Executing Agency for the project, to minimize land acquisition during project design, the project will still engender resettlement effects. WCDDC estimates that 7.8 hectares of structures will be demolished, 319 households (236 farmer households and 83 urban households) or about 1,204 persons will be relocated, and 25 work units will be affected for the construction of three sewage treatment systems. WCDC prepared this plan to address the involuntary resettlement effects of the project.
