ADB's European Member Countries

ADB has 17 European member countries with a combined capital subscription of over $8.4 billion. European member countries contribute to special funds, such as the Asian Development Fund (ADF), ADB's major concessional funding instrument. European countries also contribute to numerous ADB-administered trust funds.

Cumulative cofinancing with European countries reached almost $6.5 billion between 1970 and 2006. Since 1967, European companies and consultants have been awarded well over $12.69 billion in procurement contracts from ADB-financed projects. Furthermore, Europeans make up about one quarter of ADB's professional staff.

In addition to European member countries, ADB works with various Europe-based institutions and organizations including the European Commission (EC) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
