Gains from Petroleum Fund must be spent wisely

With the increased value of the Petroleum Fund, Government has gained some fiscal space to implement programs addressing civil unrest and economic security of the poor. However, it must also resist the "resource curse" of overspending and any additional expenditure must be viewed in the context of prevailing capacity constraints. Prudent use of the supplementary funds should improve prospects for further economic growth. Read the report [ PDF ]

Timor-Leste and ADB
Timor-Leste has received $27.25 million in total technical assistance since 1999. Before joining ADB in 2002, ADB assistance to Timor-Leste was conveyed through the United Nations Transitional Authority in East Timor.
