ADB's Response
Strategy
Governments in the region have responded with major policy packages for safeguarding banking and financial systems, stimulating growth, and protecting the poor. Many are initiating strategies to rebalance their economies.
ADB is supporting these efforts in response to the crisis through
- mobilizing additional financing (including guarantees),
- accelerating aid to low-income countries,
- establishing a $3 billion Countercyclical Support Facility for 2009 and 2010
- more focused investments in infrastructure projects
- rebuilding business confidence and private sector support, and
- promoting subregional and region-wide initiatives especially to strengthen economic surveillance and broaden the knowledge base on the impacts of the crisis.
All these efforts are in line with ADB’s new Strategy 2020.
