Responsibilities:

The position is responsible for providing statistical, analytical, and administrative support to the implementation of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program.

Specific responsibilities include

  1. providing analytical and statistical support in the development of the Regional Cooperation Strategy and Program (RCSP) and its Updates by collecting data, verifying their validity, and analyzing statistical reports on the regional program.
  2. preparing, maintaining and regularly updating the regional lending and technical assistance pipeline list in coordination with Head, Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Unit (CARECU).
  3. assisting in the preparation of briefing papers for senior management, presentation materials for senior officials' meetings and ministerial conferences, and other background documents on the CAREC Program.
  4. assisting CARECU's media and publication specialist in improving and updating the CAREC web site, preparing articles and typesetting the quarterly regional newsletter, preparing other CAREC publications, and liaising with the Department of External Relations and the Printing Unit regarding publication and related requirements.
  5. collecting statistical data and maintaining database in support of the requirements of CAREC reports and publications.
  6. maintaining an orderly and up-to-date resource library, including electronic copies, of RETA files, CAREC documents, consultants' reports, and other research and background papers on regional cooperation.
  7. providing logistical support in organizing and conducting CAREC sector committee and senior officials' meetings, and ministerial conferences.
  8. maintaining and regularly updating CARECU's list of national focal points, sectoral coordinating committee members and other contact persons, and CARECU's mailing list for the dissemination of CAREC publications.
  9. ensuring the smooth flow of documents and communications between CARECU, various divisions of East and Central Asia Department, and the Resident Missions.
  10. providing general administrative support to CARECU and participating in ADB missions as required.
Reporting Arrangement:
The position reports to Head, CARECU.
Selection Criteria:
Specific criteria include
  • suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
  • bachelor's degree.
  • 3 years of work experience in a private or public organization, preferably in relation to regional cooperation initiatives.
  • good typing and computer skills; excellent in MS Office and proficient in desktop publishing software such as ADOBE Pagemaker and ADOBE Photoshop.
  • excellent command of written and spoken English; good memo composition and editing skills.
  • ability to work with individuals from different cultural/national backgrounds.
  • ability to manage priorities and workload within general schedule of work, instructions and standardized practices.
  • ability to work with minimum supervision and maintain composure under pressure.
