Young Professional (Economics)

1. IMMEDIATE REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The position reports to:
Director and/or designated Professional Staff

2. JOB PURPOSE:

To provide assistance in policy and economic research, and contribute to capacity building and knowledge sharing initiatives around economic analysis principles and methods. Independently complete assigned tasks, which are generally non-routine, within clearly defined standards and with regular supervision.

3. EXPECTED OUTCOMES:

Policy Analysis and Economic Research Work

Assist and participate in research and analytical work on Asia’s development challenges, policies and project economic analysis methodologies.
Apply own complex specialist knowledge to support others in research and analysis.

Knowledge Management

Assist in organizing statistical data and evaluate their quality and relevance to policy makers.
Assist in development of knowledge products (i.e. papers, reports, etc.) for capacity building on economic analysis principles and methods, including their dissemination.

6. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

A university degree in economics or related fields; preferably at post graduate level or its equivalent

7. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level

At least 3 years of relevant professional experience

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Not more than 32 years old (must be born on or after 1 December 1975 ) upon joining ADB

Able to work with others of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds

No close relatives in ADB

International experience working in areas related to ADB operations

8. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:

Established in 1966 and headquartered in Manila, Philippines, ADB's multicultural staff come from over 50 member countries. ADB offers an internationally competitive salary paid in US dollars. Salaries and benefits are generally free of tax except for citizens of some countries, primarily the USA and the Philippines, whose incomes are taxed by their respective governments. While the position advertised is for the ADB Headquarters in Manila, Philippines, ADB staff must be prepared to serve in any location outside its Headquarters at the discretion of Management.
