The ADB Headquarters
ADB's spacious and modern headquarters is located in the Ortigas Commercial Center, a fast growing new business and financial area in the City of Mandaluyong, Metro Manila. The headquarters is surrounded by shopping and entertainment centers, hotels, popular business establishments, residences, commercial banks, restaurants, a hospital and several clinics. It is located about 5 kilometers away from the center of Makati City, Quezon City and City of Manila.
Staff Services and Facilities
Expatriate Spouse Employment: ADB offers assistance to expatriate spouse to seek employment in the Philippines through its "Expatriate Spouse Employment Assistance Program."
Under the local laws, expatriate spouses can obtain a certificate from the Philippine authorities that exempts them from securing a work permit. The exemption will facilitate the procedures for local employment.
Legal Assistance Services: ADB has engaged the services of a law office to provide initial advice on the legal aspects of personal problems of staff and their dependents. Matters disclosed are kept in strict confidence.
Housing Search and Selection Assistance: ADB assists in obtaining proper residential accommodation and related services needed by staff through the assistance of a Housing Consultant.
External Personal Counselor: To provide assistance to ADB employees on delicate social and psychological matters, ADB engaged an external counselor to give confidential advice.
Recreational Facilities: ADB cares for the health of its staff and sponsors various sports and hobby clubs. A spacious gymnasium is provided for fitness equipment, basketball, table tennis, badminton, squash, volleyball, martial arts, and other sports activities. Opportunities for golf, bowling, tennis, rowing and other hobbies or sports requiring wide and different facilities also exist through the Bank-sponsored clubs.
Dining Rooms and Snack Service: ADB has a spacious cafeteria that serves breakfast, lunch and late afternoon snacks. Also, an executive dining room opens at noon for lunch. There are eight private dining rooms which may be booked for business lunches. Tea, coffee, fruit juices, softdrinks and light snacks can be purchased from service staff who move around the offices with trolleys every morning and afternoon.
Commissary: The Commissary has a wide range of tax-exempt items including food, liquor, wines, cigarettes/tobaccos, perfumes and other selected goods/articles.
Learning Resources Center: Individual training stations equipped with individual VCRs, TVs and PCs are provided for private, individualized, self-paced instruction in accounting, economics, finance, project management, communications, language development, management skills development and information technology. Tutorial videos, CD-ROMs and other latest PC software are also available for familiarization purposes.
Library: ADB has an excellent, comprehensive and well-equipped reference library. It has an up-to- date collection of books, newspapers, periodicals, maps, pamphlets, journals, microfiche and documents of international, regional and national interests. Access to the Internet is available and CD-ROM databases are installed covering agriculture, environment, economics, rural development, education, finance, management, social issues, statistics, etc. Special services are offered to staff to facilitate research and access to information.
Medical and Dental Clinics: The ADB headquarters has medical and dental clinics fully equipped for medical and dental examinations, emergency treatment, laboratory tests and dispense medicines for emergency purposes and for business travel. The medical doctor and staff are available for consultation during specified clinic hours for the staff and dependents.
Banking Facilities: Two commercial banks have branches in the headquarters to serve full banking services to staff and dependents.
Service-oriented private companies: For the convenience of the staff and for immediate accessibility, ADB’s premises include a pharmacy, travel agency, insurance company, laundry and dry cleaning shop, Bookshop, and Convenience store.
Special Centers: Private mails, calls, deliveries, special arrangements, and very important services are also served in the premises through the ADB Post Office, international and local telephone booths, delivery companies, special messages centers, notarial office, and other centers located in the headquarters.
Gasoline Station: ADB has its own gasoline station located at the ADB Car Park offering gas and diesel oils at tax-free prices.
Staff Association: The Staff Association is created to foster a sense of common purpose among members in promoting the aims and objectives of ADB and to promote and safeguard the rights, interests and welfare of the members.
No Smoking Rule: Smoking is not permitted inside the headquarters for the health and safety of staff. Special places are provided for smoking.
