Directions
The ECG is developing approaches to peer review of evaluation functions in MDBs that will
address the independence of the evaluation office and the role of Management and Boards of Directors;
ensure adherence to good-practice standards;
tackle the selection of evaluation topics;
improve the quality of evaluation reports;
promote the use of lessons and recommendations; and
deal with staffing and budgets.
The Evaluation Cooperation Group*
website is dedicated to harmonizing evaluation work among multilateral
development banks.
CSPEs seek to describe and explain the performance of an MDB at the country level. They tend to engage evaluation clients more than other forms of independent evaluation. Consequently, they play an increasingly important role in the work programs of independent evaluation offices.
