Major Reports
Annual Reports
  Annual Evaluation Reviews Outline evaluation activities in each preceding year, summarize the performance of ADB's sovereign projects and programs based on evaluations, and draw lessons to guide operations.
  Annual Reports on Acting on Recommendations Provide the Board of Directors and ADB Management an annual report on action plans and actions taken in the context of the Management response to evaluation recommendations, together with validation by the Independent Evaluation Department of the actions taken.
  Annual Reports on Portfolio Performance Provide the Board of Directors of ADB and ADB's Management with strategic overviews of the effectiveness of the loan and technical assistance portfolio in delivering results, together with real-time assessments of what is working well or less well and recommendations to maintain or improve quality.
  Annual Reports of the Development Effectiveness Committee Comunicate to the Board of Directors of ADB the Committee's assessment of the adequacy and efficiency of ADB's program of independent evaluation of policies, strategies, and completed operations.
  Evaluation Highlights Flag the principal findings, lessons, and recommendations from evaluation studies in each preceding year.
Country Assistance Program Evaluations
  Evaluate the entire ADB support to a country covering ADB's strategy, policy dialogue, both completed and ongoing projects and technical assistance, and ADB's performance. It provides ADB and the country with a basis for deciding on changes in the future country partnership strategy.
Impact Evaluations
  Until 2006, impact evaluation in ADB were based on desk review of project documents, analysis of project benefit monitoring and evaluation data, short field visits to project sites, project economic analysis, and/or small sample survey of beneficiary households. Since 2007, impact evaluations have been more rigorous and are based on identification of valid comparison groups (counterfactuals), large sample surveys, and application of appropriate quantitative analytical methods, supplemented by qualitative analysis.
Sector Assistance Program Evaluations
  Evaluate ADB's sectoral, strategy, policy dialogue, ongoing and completed projects and technical assistance, and ADB's performance within a given sector in one country.
Special Evaluation Studies
  Extract and aggregate data and information on a specific theme, e.g., nongovernment and civil society organizations, participation, governance, gender, environment, capacity building. This may involve different modalities, sectors, or countries.
Project/Program Performance Evaluations
  Evaluate the design, implementation, and performance of projects and programs. They are prepared about 3 years after project completion.

  Discuss ad hoc subjects, including knowledge management, evaluation retrospectives, and development impact assessments.
Case Studies
  Bring to light specialized material from evaluations.
Evaluation Information Briefs
  Offer insights and lessons on current issues as well as selected ADB projects and programs.
Occasional Papers
  Are short treatments of ad hoc subjects.
Sector and Thematic Papers
  Are short treatments of sectors and themes prepared toward broader evaluation studies, particularly country assistance program evaluations.
Syntheses of Evaluation Findings
  Presents a summary of ADB evaluation findings in a particular country or sector, and highlights major issues encountered, lessons identified, and good practices that can be taken into account in the preparation and implementation of future assistance programs and strategies.
Technical Assistance Completion Reports
  Are prepared to benefit from experience and to improve TA planning, formulation, and implementation.
Technical Assistance Performance Evaluations
  Evaluate technical assistance projects. Usually, several TAs are covered in the same report.
Technical Assistance Reports
  Provide a full specification of the technical assistance including impact, outcome, outputs, cost, financing, implementation, and terms of reference.
Validation Reports
  Are prepared for project and program completion reports, and country partnership strategy completion reports where preparation of a full country assistance program evaluation is not practicable.
Summaries
Learning Curves
  Are handy, two-paged quick references designed to feed findings and recommendations from evaluation to a broader range of clients.
Success Rates
  Present condensed information on successful ADB projects.
Learning Lessons
  Synthesis of key lessons drawn from evaluation and completion reports of ADB-supported projects and programs. Lessons are extracted from the Evaluation Information System (EVIS).
