Development of Domestic and Regional Capital Markets
Many DMCs are at a stage where they would benefit from further developing their domestic capital markets to reduce their dependence on mainly short-term bank financing for long-term investments and enhance allocation efficiency. ADB is supporting this process through assistance for
- strengthening
the regulation and supervision of securities markets in accordance
with international standards and practices
- enhancing
market infrastructure
- improving corporate
governance requirements
- removing policy
distortions that affect the efficient allocation of domestic savings
- introducing
new financial products and services
ADB has also
provided assistance
for regional bond market development.
