It is anticipated that a strategy for ADB's financial sector operations will be prepared during 2004/5. Country sector strategies provide the framework for our financial sector activities at country level. ADB has been implementing a wide range of projects in the sector including:

• capacity building for financial sector institutions and regulatory/supervisory agencies including a special training program for financial regulators
• policy research and advice on sector issues
• policy-based lending for the development of policy, legal, regulatory, and governance frameworks for banking systems, capital markets, insurance and pension systems and microfinance
• financial intermediation loans (credit lines)
• investments in financial institutions and funds
• guarantees to mobilize debt financing from commercial financial institutions
