Flood Control and Water Resource ManagementObjectiveFlood management and mitigation (FMM) is a flagship initiative under the GMS Strategic Framework endorsed during the 10th GMS Ministerial Meeting held in Yangon, Myanmar in November 2001. Its overall goal is to prevent, minimize, or mitigate people's suffering and economic losses due to floods while preserving the environmental and economic benefits of floods. Programs and ProjectsUnder the flagship initiative, integrated structural and flood-proofing measures are the largest in terms of cost. The projects consist of both project preparatory technical assistance (PPTA) and investment in water resource development - already included in ADB country strategy programs (CSPs) for Viet Nam and Cambodia.
