Implementation Review of the Policy on Gender and Development

ADB adopted its Policy on Gender and Development (GAD) in 1998. An interim progress report [ PDF: 1,788kb | 62 pages ] on the GAD policy implementation covering the period 1998-2001 was prepared in 2002. The current implementation review covers the period 1998-2004.

The results of the review are presented in a report which includes:

  • general trends related to gender equality in the Asia and Pacific region
  • ADB's implementation experience in key areas of the Policy, and the contribution of various institutional mechanisms to results under the Policy
  • overall assessment of ADB's performance in gender mainstreaming in country strategy and programs, loans and technical assistance projects
  • steps to improve the scope and quality of ADB's gender-related work and mechanisms for monitoring progress.
