Country Governance Assessments
Country Governance AssessmentsCountry Governance Assessments (CGAs) are carried out to systematically assess the quality of governance for development member countries (DMCs), and to strengthen the linkage between the quality of governance and levels and composition of assistance. Results of CGAs have been incorporated or are being incorporated into Country Strategy and Programs (CSPs) and their annual updates (CSPUs). Too, they are being used to develop measurable objectives for incorporation into Poverty Partnership Agreements. A review of the CGA instrument was conducted to assess its contribution to improving the quality of CSPs and the extent to which ADB, DMCs, and other development agencies are using findings of the CGA to assist DMCs strengthen their institutional capacity and basic human needs.
