OECD’s Procurement Portal This site provides access to publications and links to other websites related to procurement.

OECD/DAC-World Bank Initiative on Strengthening Procurement Capacities (the Round Table Initiative)  This initiative aims to strengthen local and regional procurement capacities in partner countries to enhance country ownership and improve aid effectiveness.

World Bank Procurement Portal  The WB site provides information on public procurement and resources to strengthen procurement capacity at the country level, including diagnostic tools to assist borrowers such as the  Country Procurement Assessment Report(CPARs)

Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) International ARMA provides education, research, and networking opportunities to information professionals, to enable them to use their skills and experience to leverage the value of records, information, and knowledge as corporate assets and as contributors to organizational success.

Centre for Aid & Public Expenditure CAPE carries out high quality policy-focused research on aid instruments, budget processes and the reform of public expenditure systems.

The IMF's Public Financial Management Blog aims at sharing the IMF staff's vast experience in PFM with professionals around the world. The blog features interesting articles and newsletters, highlights relevant web sites, articles and books and provides informed comments on news and developments in the field of PFM.

Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability PEFA aims to support integrated and harmonized approaches to assessment and reform in the field of public finance, procurement, and financial accountability. PEFA’s Measurement Framework comprises 28 specific measures to track the quality of PFM systems and has been applied in more than 75 countries.

OECD-DAC's Joint Venture on Public Financial Management JV-PFM aims to support government-led strategies to improve public financial management. JV-PFM provides a platform to discuss outcomes and best practices emerging from related initiatives e.g. MDB Financial Management Harmonization.

African Development Bank(AfDB)  The site provides information on AfDB’s approach, projects, and publications on governance and its anticorruption agenda.

Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid) This site provides information on AusAid’s governance programs, publications, and research.

Belgium Technical Cooperation (BTC) This site provides information on BTC’s approach to decentralization and local governance.

Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) This site provides access to CIDA’s programs and publications on governance. CIDA’s Office for Democratic Governance focuses on issues of freedom and democracy, human rights, rule of law, and open and accountable public institutions in developing countries.

Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA)  DANIDA’s DevForum provides information and news on development priorities and themes in Danish development assistance, including good governance, anticorruption, and public sector management.  The site includes links to key references on governance, DANIDA’s governance programmes, and publications/research briefs from its good governance seminars.

Department for International Development, UK (DFID)’s Governance and Social Development Resource Centre (GSDRC) provides the latest information about governance in development. DFID has initiated a Drivers of Change (DoC) approach to identify the political institutions, structures and agents that can act as key levers to enable pro-poor change and therefore improve the effectiveness of aid.

German Development Service (DED) DED promotes democracy, civil society, rule of law, and local development through its capacity building activities for local authorities and civil society organisations and its civil conflict management projects.

Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) This site outlines GTZ’s service areas and provides access to publications on governance, decentralization, corruption, and other public sector reform issues.

Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) This site provides information on IADB’s projects and publications and features a global governance indicators database which can generate regional and country-level comparative data on a number of governance measures.

Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA) This site outlines JICA’s approach to governance, includes information on current projects, and provides access to related publications.

Norwegian Agency for Development (NORAD) This site provides access to NORAD’s library of governance publications and information on its anticorruption work.

Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Development Aid Effectiveness Committee (DAC)  DAC is focused on promoting a global partnership for development and accelerate progress towards the Millennium Development Goals. DAC’s Network on Governance or GOVNET aims to improve the effectiveness of development assistance in governance and in support of capacity development. It provides a policy forum for members to discuss lessons learned and disseminate good practices.  This site also includes links to recent publications as well as archived copies of OECD’s public management newsletter, Focus, which was discontinued in 2002.

Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA)  This site provides information on SIDA’s democratic governance programs and publications.

Stichting Nederlandse Vriwilligers (SNV) Netherlands Development Organization  This site highlights SNV’s focus on strengthening local government and includes case studies, publications, and information on its regional programs.

USAID’s Office for Democracy and Governance USAID’s governance office is tasked with supporting and advancing USAID's democracy and governance (DG) programming worldwide, helping USAID field missions design and implement democracy strategies, providing technical and intellectual leadership in the field of democracy development, and managing some USAID programs directly. USAID's Development Experience Clearinghouse (DEC), is searchable by subject and country and contains several governance resources.

UNDP's Democratic Governance Program This program was established in 1995 to respond to increasing demands on UNDP for technical assistance in governance and management development. The program’s global policy network is supported by its Oslo Governance Centre established in Norway in 2002. The site also includes information on UNDP’s work in regionally and at the country level in Asia and the Pacific.

United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) UNCDF offers investment capital, capacity building and technical advisory services to promote microfinance and local development in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).  The site provides resources and publications in key areas including  local governance.

United Nations Financing for Development Office The site serves as the central clearinghouse for key documents and the follow up process for the 2002 International Conference on Financing for Development, which culminated in the adoption of the Monterrey Consensus [ PDF ].

The Partnership for Democratic Governance (PDG) PDG is a new multilateral initiative designed to assist developing countries, wherever capacity is limited, to improve governance, strengthen capacity and accountability and effectively deliver essential services such as efficient customs, judicial and tax services.

World Bank’s Governance and Anticorruption Portal, World Bank Institute’s Governance and Anticorruption site, and Public Sector Governance Group   World Bank facilitates action-oriented and participatory programs to promote good governance and curb corruption in its client countries. These dedicated sites include articles, publications, learning products, data, and other resources related to governance and corruption. Key resources include the Governance Matters Indicators, BRIBEline, and the Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA) Index.

Bertlesmann Transformation Index (BTI) BTI is a global ranking that analyzes and evaluates development and transformation processes in 119 countries. BTI aims to provide the international public and political actors with a comprehensive view of the status of democracy, economic conditions, and quality of political management.

British Library of Development Studies (BLDS) BLDS is an information portal with links to a range of resources (datasets, publications, indicators) on key development issues, including governance.

Center for International Development and Conflict Management CIDCM seeks to prevent and transform conflict, to understand the interplay between conflict and development, and to help societies create sustainable futures for themselves. Using the insights of researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, CIDCM devises effective tools and pathways to constructive change. The Polity Project IV contains coded annual information on regime and authority characteristics for all independent states (with greater than 500,000 total population) in the global state system and covers the years 1800-2004.

Community Information Empowerment Transparency (CIET) CIET is an international group of non-profit, non-governmental organizations, academic institutes, charities, foundations and trusts focused on participatory approaches to public administration and community governance.

Cyberspace Policy Research Group CPRG provides information about the use of World Wide Web in governments worldwide, particularly in terms of organizational openness and internal effectiveness.

Development Gateway  This site is an information portal hosting on-line communities, discussion forums and an array of country resources focused on key development issues, including governance.

Development Research Centre on Citizenship, Participation, and Accountability (Citizenship DRC) is an international network of researchers and activists exploring new forms of citizenship. The site includes access to publications and information on related events.

Doing Business Project DBP provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement across 175 countries, evaluating regulations that directly impact economic growth, downloading underlying laws, making cross-country comparisons, and identifying good practice reforms.

The Enterprise Surveys/Investment Climate Assessments These surveys measure firms’ perceptions of the quality of performance of specific public regulatory and infrastructure agencies in more than 100 countries. The Unit's research focuses on finance, regulation, corruption, trade, and informality, among other topics.

Eldis This site is an information gateway hosted by the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, which aims to help disseminate the best in development policy, practice and research.  It publishes a series of resource guides and provides web links on relevant topics including governance, accountability, corruption, and transparency.

European Centre for Development Policy Management(ECDPM)  ECDPM works with governments and organizations in Europe to make their development policies and instruments more effective and contributes to building effective political economic and developmental relationships between African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries and Europe. ECDP reinforces the capacities of public, private and non-profit organizations in ACP countries - to better manage their own development policies and international cooperation.

Freedom House Through a vast array of international programs and publications, Freedom House is working to advance the remarkable worldwide expansion of political and economic freedom. Freedom House Indices track governance reforms and measure the state of political rights, civil rights and economic freedoms around the world.

Governance Economic Policy and Public Administration (GEPPA) Research Network This research network was established by Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA)  to strengthen development research in these key policy areas.  The site provides information on events, projects, and related research.

Global Integrity Global Integrity is an independent, non-profit organization tracking governance and corruption trends around the world. Global Integrity uses local teams of researchers and journalists to monitor openness and accountability.

Global Development Network (GDN)  GDN is a worldwide network of research and policy institutes working to provide a fresh and relevant perspective to current development challenges.  The site provides links to regional network partners and publications on key topics.

Global Internet Policy Initiative   GIPI is a network of non-profit, non-governmental organizations focused on legal and policy frameworks supporting an open and democratic Internet.The site provides Internet policy materials of particular interest to developing and transitional countries.

id21 id21 provides UK-sourced international development research to policymakers and practitioners worldwide.

Institute for Development Policy and Management- University of Manchester IDPM aims to promote social and economic development particularly within lower-income countries and for disadvantaged groups, by enhancing the capabilities of individuals and organisations through education, training, consultancy services, research, and policy analysis. Several of IDPM's multi-disciplinary research groups have dedicated training and research focused on governance and capacity building.

International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) IDEA is an intergovernmental organization that supports sustainable democracy worldwide. Through its democracy assessments and other key areas of expertise, IDEA aims to strengthen democratic institutions and processes. The site features a publications database organized by topic, region, and language.

International Budget Project  IBP produces the Open Budget Index (OBI) which assesses the public availability of key budget documents, the quality of information they provide, and the timeliness of their dissemination in 59 countries.

International Public Management Network IPMN provides a forum for sharing ideas, concepts and results of research and practice in the field of public management, and to stimulate critical thinking about alternative approaches to problem solving and decision making in the public sector.

International Records Management Trust IRMT is a registered charity established in 1989 to promote good governance and help develop new strategies for managing public sector records, paper or electronic.

Institute of Development Studies (IDS)  IDS conducts research, teaching and communications on issues relevant to international development, including governance . IDS’s Center for the Future State focuses on key governance issues in developing countries: state effectiveness; collective action and public policy; politics, law and rights; and security, conflict and fragile states. The site also features a research gateway providing links to several information clearinghouses through its knowledge sharing and consultancy work.

National Democratic Institute (NDI) NDI is a nonprofit organization working to strengthen governance and expand democracy worldwide. Key areas of focus include constitutional, political, and electoral reform, legislative development, local government, public integrity and anticorruption. The site provides access to NDI’s political development newsletter and international, regional, and country-level publications and resources.

Overseas Development Institute (ODI) ODI’s governance and corruption portal includes publications, information on upcoming events, and the latest commentary on key governance issues and ongoing global governance assessments. The site also includes information on rural policy and governance.

Australian Development Gateway This site provides resources for people promoting good governance and transparency in the Asia Pacific region.

Center for Asia-Pacific Women in Politics  CAPWP promotes a vision of governance in the Asia-Pacific region as adhering to excellence, integrity and accountability, gender equality, sustainable development and peace.

Center for Democratic Institutions CDI aims to harness Australian and international best practice to support regional partner countries to strengthen their parliaments and political parties.

International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA)—Asia Pacific IDEA’s databases contain information on elections, party financing, voter turnout, and gender quotas in the Asia-Pacific region. However, IDEA’s main focus, is providing research and training in South Asia, specifically Bangladesh, Burma/Myanmar, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Key areas of focus include democracy building and conflict resolution, electoral processes and political parties.

National Democratic Institute’s Regional Governance Programs--Asia  NDI facilitates two regional programs in Asia focused on governance: Strengthening Women’s Political Participation in Southeast Asia and Supporting Women’s Political Leaders in Muslim South Asia.

Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat  The Forum’s initiatives and programs provide assistance to Pacific region countries to help them develop strategic partnerships, promote good governance and improve development cooperation and aid effectiveness.  The site provides access to research and documents on key strategic issues, including sustainable development.

South Asia Social Accountability Network (SASAN)  SASAN is an initiative of the Centre for Good Governance (CGG) and the South Asia Agriculture and Rural Development (SASAR) Group of the World Bank to develop a broader understanding amongst various Government and Civil Society Organizations towards the potential use of Social Accountability tools in promoting good governance.

Country Analytic Work  CAW provides multilateral and bilateral development institutions and their clients with the analysis and advice necessary to underpin policy dialogue, develop and implement country strategies, and carry out sound lending operations.

Hong Kong Public Administration Association HKPAA’s site has wide-ranging resources, including a listing of contents of its semi-annual journal, Public Administration and Policy, published with the City University of Hong Kong.

InfoChange India or Information for Change is an online resource providing news, views, perspectives, and debates on critical development and social justice issues including governance, with a focus on India and South Asia. The site is managed by The Centre for Communication and Development Studies (CCDS).

Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC)  ISEC is part of GDN ’s regional network of research institutes focused on social and economic development, including relevant governance issues: public sector administration, fiscal, political, administrative and sociological aspects of decentralisation, institutional aspects of development administration, development politics, and issues of governance at central, state and local levels.

National Democratic Institute (NDI) NDI’s global network of volunteer experts provides practical assistance and training to civil and political leaders advancing democratic values, practices, and institutions at the country-level.  In Asia, NDI works in: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, China, East Timor, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Russian Federation, Turkey, Ukraine.

Public Affairs Centre PAC is an NGO based in Bangalore, India, dedicated to improving governance in India by strengthening civil society institutions in their interactions with the State. Key areas of focus include: good governance practices, right to information, anticorruption, electoral interventions and transparency. The site provides updates on key issues, publications, tools on citizen participation e.g. Citizen Report Card, and links to other web resources.
