Pro-Poor Service Delivery

ADB works towards realizing poverty reduction through targeted assistance that will improve access to services, particularly for the poor. Many of the Millennium Development Goals cannot be achieved unless poor people have access to equitable, effective, efficient, and affordable services.

In their efforts to improve the efficiency and responsiveness of basic services, many DMCs have transferred the responsibility for service delivery to local governments. In addition, many governments have introduced a range of policies and measures to improve responsiveness in delivery public services, particularly to the poor.

ADB has been providing assistance in various forms to many DMCs to strengthen pro-poor service delivery.
