The IMT-GT Roadmap for 2007-2011Development Vision and Goal. The IMT-GT envisions a seamless, progressive, prosperous and peaceful subregion with improved quality of life. This will contribute to the realization of an ASEAN Economic Community by 2020. To realize this vision, the IMT-GT aims to accelerate private sector-led economic growth and help facilitate the development of the subregion as a whole. Its objective in the next five years is to increase intra-IMT-GT and inter-IMT-GT trade and investment. Substantial improvement in physical connectivity of the IMT-GT subregions is expected by 2011, with a number of road, airport and port projects being completed. Much closer collaboration between the public and private sectors, and participation of provincial and state governments in the process, are expected to be achieved within the Roadmap implementation period. Action Plan. The IMT-GT Strategic Thrusts are translated into an Action Plan in the form of a development matrix, aimed at guiding the detailed programming and implementation of specific IMT-GT programs. Institutional arrangements for monitoring, coordinating and implementing the Roadmap and Action Plan will be reviewed periodically to ensure timely and effective implementation. The establishment of a Center for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation is expected to help in tracking the progress and performance of IMT-GT programs and projects |
