Indigenous Peoples Specific Action

An IP Specific Action is required to address impacts or risks when a project is expected to have limited impacts or if there is a risk that the project may not bring the intended benefits to the affected IP within a specific plan. The IP Specific Action is specified in the report and recommendation of the President (RRP) and in related plans.

An IP Specific Action may:

  • incorporate IP (who might be excluded from the project) into the project beneficiary group
  • incorporate IP's specific needs (that may not be addressed by the project) into the project plan, and
  • take the form of a common community action plan where indigenous groups live with the non-IP in the same project location.
