Göran Eklöf, SwedenGöran Eklöf is a Swedish biologist with a background in journalism. Eklof has been working on environment and development linkages since the mid-80's. 1987-1990 he was the coordinator for the programs of a Swedish development NGO in India, where he got engaged in the struggles of the communities affected by the construction of large dams on the Naramada. River. In the next years he published two books, one on environmental problems and movements in India, and one on the World Bank and the environment. 1993-1996 Eklöf worked for Oxfam in Vietnam, where most of his efforts were spent on a project with communities that had been resettled or otherwise affected by the construction of the Hoa Binh dam. Since returning to Sweden in 1996 Eklöf has been the Director for International Programs at the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. He recently left this position, and is now working with a small group of development journalists and consultants. |
