Asian Development Bank Warns of Fake Bank Guarantee Scheme

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (2 July 2004) - Recently, a number of individual members of the public have alerted the Asian Development Bank (ADB) of a scheme where they have received offers of bank guarantees which appear to have been issued by ADB. In this scheme, individuals have been sent correspondence on official-looking ADB stationery.

We warn against such schemes that misuse the Asian Development Bank’s name and website address, or claim to be affiliated with ADB.

Concerns regarding this matter or similar schemes may be sent to ADB's Anticorruption Unit by email at anticorruption@adb.org.
