Selection Process

The selection process occurs on an annual basis and depends on securing a match between the relevant experience and skills of the applicant and the project needs of ADB.

  1. The academic institution's internship coordinator registers online.

  2. Applicants submit CV and a three-page research proposal for a specific department of interest.

  3. ADB evaluates applications received using the following as selection criteria: academic qualifications, relevant experience, and required skills for the specific project. ADB also considers institutional representation, gender, and nationality balance in the process.

  4. Selected research fellows are notified and their acceptance is contingent upon the endorsement of the applicant from the sponsoring academic institution or grant agency and subject to a reference clearance.
