About Kazakhstan

The ninth-largest country of the world became independent in 1991. The geopolitical status of Kazakhstan makes it an inevitable bridge between Europe and Asia. It has hydrocarbon reserves estimated at 100 billion barrels and abundant natural resources including gold, silver, uranium, chromium, phosphor, nickel and coal.

Kazakhstan is administratively composed of 16 regions. The capital city is Astana. Almaty city is the largest financial and business center of the country.

Kazakhstan is a constitutional republic. Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev is the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The bicameral Parliament comprises the upper house (Senate) and the lower house (Majilis). The higher judicial bodies are the Supreme Court and Constitutional Council.
