Economic Pace to ModerateMining and hydropower kept the economy growing at a rapid rate last year and the outlook is for further growth at a more moderate pace of 8% in 2008–2009. Robust economic growth expected in neighboring trading partners such as the People’s Republic of China and Thailand should support demand for Lao PDR’s main exports. ADB-Lao PDR Partnership
ADB continues to remain the largest multilateral financier to the Lao People's Democratic Republic since it joined in 1968. As of December 2006, ADB had approved almost $1.22 billion in loans and technical assistance projects amounting to $108.84 million.
