Mainstreaming MDGs in Country Strategies and Programs

Consistent with ADB's strategy, the MDGs are increasingly reflected in the Country and Strategy Program (CSP) and Poverty Partnership Agreement that ADB signs with each developing member country.

The Planning Directions paper issued by President Chino on 11 February 2003 recognizes that the incorporation of the MDGs in the assistance program is a major challenge in the planning process. The paper states that the CSP must explicitly set out an analysis of the country's status and plans for achieving the MDGs, the accuracy of the data, and government and other development agencies' programs to achieve the MDGs. The CSP format is being modified to better reflect these requirements.
