The Development Effectiveness Review (DEfR), an annual report by ADB's management, assesses ADB’s progress in implementing its long-term strategic framework, the Strategy 2020. The review covers all operations financed by the Asian Development Fund and ordinary capital resources. It presents emerging trends and identifies actions for improving corporate performance. The DEfR is a key element in mainstreaming the managing for development results approach in ADB's operations.

Strategy 2020
ADB's Strategy 2020, approved in April 2008, reaffirms both ADB’s vision of an Asia and Pacific free of poverty and mission to help its developing member countries improve their living conditions and quality of life.

Asian Development Fund
ADF, funded by ADB's donor member countries, offers loans at very low interest rates and grants that help reduce poverty in ADB's poorest borrowing countries.

Country Spotlight:

People's Republic of China
ADB's country partnership strategy (CPS) for 2008–2010 builds on the successful lending and technical assistance program of ADB in the PRC spanning the past 20 years. To remain successful and relevant, ADB will be more responsive to the PRC’s rapidly changing needs. ADB's assistance during the CPS period will respond to economic and social development challenges in the PRC and be guided by the Government’s priorities and ADB’s strategic directions. The underlying theme driving the CPS will be enhanced value addition through emphasis on knowledge, innovation, and governance.
