Inflation for the whole year is pegged at 1.1% (a touch lower than ADO 2009) and is projected to gather pace to 2.6% in 2010, in tandem with higher domestic demand and global commodity prices.

Following the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s, Malaysia largely eschewed borrowing from multilateral assistance sources. One nonsovereign loan from the ADB was approved in 2007.
