2nd High Level Forum on Harmonization and Alignment for Aid Effectiveness
MANILA, PHILIPPINES (2 February 2005) - The international development community, including senior representatives from national, bilateral, and multilateral donors, will meet in Paris from 28 February to 2 March for the Second High-Level Forum on Harmonization and Alignment for Aid Effectiveness (HLF-II).
Cosponsored by the World Bank and four regional banks including ADB, OECD/DAC, and the United Nations, HLF-II will provide a platform to share experiences on practical issues, constraints, opportunities, and options in implementing the aid effectiveness agenda.
The event will be held at the Centre de Conferences Pierre Mendes France, in the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry. The first HLF took place in Rome two years ago.
The HLF-II will be a critical opportunity for the international community to - Take stock of progress in implementing the Rome Declaration
- Identify ways to accelerate and scale up implementations of harmonization, alignment, and management for results for increased aid effectiveness in support of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
- Further enhance political support for the process, particularly at the country level.
Leading ADB's delegation will be its President Haruhiko Kuroda.
Journalists are invited to attend the event. For more information, visit http://www.aidharmonization.org
