Lack of Infrastructure Major Impediment in South Asia

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Lack of infrastructure is a major impediment in South Asia, said the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in a brief presentation to the finance ministers of the region during the Bank’s Annual Meeting in Madrid.

In the presentation, ADB underscored the importance of public-private partnerships, or PPPs, in closing the infrastructure gaps. ADB said it will pro-actively support mainstreaming of PPPs through capacity building, project structuring and financing of bankable projects.
