Development Effectiveness and Results in Thailand

During preparations for the Thailand country partnership strategy, consultations with the Government of Thailand and civil society confirmed that there is scope for an expanded role for ADB in Thailand, focusing on clearly defined areas. Recognizing that economic growth is a fundamental precondition for reducing poverty and advancing social development, Thailand seeks a partnership with ADB that strengthens the country’s competitiveness in the global economy. To achieve this, collaborative efforts must center on removing constraints to greater productivity, and on creating a more conducive environment for private sector investment. As a middle-income country, Thailand also wants to increase its own role, capacity, and effectiveness as a regional donor and global development partner. In this regard, ADB’s value addition lies in sharing its extensive experience and expertise in supporting subregional cooperation and regional economic integration.
