Results-Focused Project Management

ADB adopted an enhanced Project Performance Management System (PPMS) in April 2004 to strengthen the focus on results of ADB projects. The PPMS emphasizes the systematic use of the design and monitoring framework (DMF), a results-based participatory tool for conceptualizing, designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating projects.

Activities associated with the introduction of the PPMS in ADB were fully implemented by January 2006. The PPMS continues to be mainstreamed through training programs for ADB staff and relevant officials of ADB's developing member countries (DMCs). ADB also issued the Guidelines for Preparing Design and Monitoring Framework [ PDF ] in December 2005.

ADB is providing technical assistance (TA) to enable project executing agencies in its DMCs to apply results-focused approaches and tools in participatory project design and management.
